John McCarthy one of the fathers of AI dies at 84

McCarthy based his years of AI research on the premise that human intelligence can be understood and described succinctly enough that it can be taught to a machine.

Holding a doctorate in mathematics, McCarthy didn't take credit for inventing the field of AI, although he is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the field and holds a significant spot in its history because of his development of the LISP programming language used in early AI. John_McCarthy dies at 84.

From Software Industry Conference to ISV/Con

The successful Software Industry Conference (SIC) has been acquired by the Association of Software Professionals (the ASP) and is being moulded into an all new ISV conference named ISV Con.

The next conference (2011 has been skipped due to the transfer of ownership) in 2012 is planned to be held in Reno, Nevada at the Atlantis Casino Resort.
